- 4 Videos Covering How to Close a Solution Focused Brief Therapy Session, including how to maintain client autonomy, when to end a session, and how to avoid ending with limitations.

- Wrapping Up a Session Lecture.

- 5 Videos all about Subsequent Sessions including the difference between 1st and 2nd sessions, and how to avoid assessing.

- A Panel Discussion on Follow Up Sessions.

By the end of this course you will have:

- A clearer understanding of the importance of why we close a session the way we do.

- An increased ability to ask your clients effective questions in a follow up session.

Elliott Connie, MA, LPC is a Psychotherapist that practices in Arlington, Texas. He has worked with thousands of individuals, couples, and families applying the solution focused approach to help them move their lives from the current problems towards their desired futures. As well as being the Founder and President of The Solution Focused Universe, he is recognized around the world speaking at national and international conferences and events throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, South Africa, Russia, Switzerland, England, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Holland, Canada, and Asia training practitioners to apply solution focused questions and techniques in their work. He has authored or co-authored 4 books including “The Art of Solution Focused Therapy”, ‘Solution Building in Couples Therapy”, ‘The Solution Focused Marriage’, and ‘Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with Clients Managing Trauma’.

Dr Adam Froerer:

Adam Froerer, Ph.D., LMFT is the Director of Research and Training for the Solution Focused Universe (The SFU). Adam previously worked for 11 years as a university professor, teaching and training students to be marriage and family therapists and clinical psychologists. After leaving academia, Adam shifted his focus to teaching and training professionals from around the world on how to study and master SFBT. Adam has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and is the first-editor of “Solution Focused Brief Therapy With Client’s Managing Trauma,” a book published by Oxford University Press.

Understanding How to Effective Close and Conduct Follow Up Sessions in Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Course Description

Although the shortest part of a Solution Focused Brief Session it is also the part where we need to be the most mindful so as not to get in our clients way and remove all of the hard work already started in the session. This means no summaries, reflections, compliments and homework tasks which is very different to other approaches. To help you understand why removing these things ensures the client get the most from their session we've put together this call that concentrates entirely on closing and follow up sessions. This course will expand your skill set and confidence using this approach. In this series of videos, you'll learn a variety of ways of ending a session and what to avoid, as well as how to start and maintain subsequent SFBT sessions.

This course is delivered online and can be completed in your own time.
